Join Us
Every quarter, the Youth Overdose/Opioid Task Force (YOOT) brings together young people, families, educators, healthcare providers, researchers, community organizations, and people with lived experience to learn from one another and take action.
Whether you’re attending for the first time or have been part of YOOT from the beginning, there’s a place for you at the table.
Together, we explore what’s happening in our community, share updates from ongoing projects, discuss local challenges, and identify practical next steps that can improve the lives of young people in Memphis.
What to Expect
• Updates on YOOT initiatives and community partnerships
• Opportunities to connect with others who care about youth well-being
• Small-group conversations where every voice is welcome
• Discussion of current priorities and ways to get involved between meetings
• Dinner, conversation, and a welcoming atmosphere
No special expertise is required. Curiosity, compassion, and a willingness to listen are enough.
Who Should Attend?
Our meetings are open to everyone interested in improving outcomes for young people, including:
• Youth and young adults
• Parents, caregivers, and family members
• Educators and school staff
• Healthcare and behavioral health professionals
• Researchers and students
• Community organizations
• People with lived experience
• Anyone who wants to be part of the solution
Our Guiding Principles
YOOT believes that lasting solutions come from working with young people, not simply for them.
We center youth voices, value lived experience alongside professional expertise, and believe that meaningful change happens when communities build relationships, share knowledge, and work together.
You don’t have to have the answers to belong here.
If you care about young people and believe Memphis can do better together, we’d love to have you join us.
